We request that volunteers commit to at least a 2-3 hour block of volunteer time. The Arc Mardi Gras Recycling Center is available to accommodate individual and groups of volunteers 7 days a week, all year long! For most volunteer shifts, students will work side-by-side with people with disabilities who are helped by our non-profit. While their participants put in a lot effort and hard work, it’s volunteers who put them over the finish line, and this year, their goal is to sort 27 tons of Mardi Gras beads! The recycling center employs five full-time staff with disabilities and more than 75 Arc team members on a part-time basis. This is a perfect opportunity for students to fulfill their service hours while helping a 64-year-old non-profit organization that supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, such as down syndrome and autism. They would like to invite pre-freshmen, freshmen, and sophomores to volunteer with at the recycling center. With the holiday season well underway, that means Mardi Gras is just around the corner! And, ArcGNO Mardi Gras Recycling Center is overflowing with beads.

Pius X is looking for high school volunteers for their annaul Gala on Friday, April 6 during the hours of 5:00 p.m. If you would be interested in volunteering directly, please register at the link here. If a participant is identified as needing assistance, the Sweep Team member can then point that person in the direction of the medical tent, escort the participant directly, or request assistance from the medical tent staff. These volunteers are not required to have direct patient care experience, as their main objective is to cheer on runners at the finish line and survey the area for participants who may be in need of medical assistance.
They are specifically looking for students who would be interested in joining the Medical Sweep team. The Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K & 5K will take place on Sunday, March 4, 2018, and they are looking students to be a part their medical team for 2018. This is a great opportunity for high school students with any level of training to gain hands on experience and work alongside some of New Orleans finest medical providers. Cleanup on Sunday is from 8:00 a.m.to noon. on Saturday, but they will need help with setup starting at 11:00 a.m. Shifts for Saturday: (1-3, 3-5, 5-7) or you can work the entire day. They will have shifts set up, so if you only want to work 2 hours, or you want to work the whole event, they are flexible and willing to work with your schedule. All volunteers will be able to eat free crawfish and will be provided drinks during their breaks. to 12:00 p.m. Students would help monitor Inflatables and help Serve drinks. Philip Neri is in need of volunteers for their Crawfish Cookoff on Saturday, March 10 from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. and for cleanup on Sunday, March 11 from 8:00 a.m.
